Territory Sales Manager - Vancouver & Lower Mainland

The management of Maddies Natural Pet Products Ltd. is pleased to announce that the position of Territory Sales Manager for the Vancouver/Lower Mainland area is now open to interested professional salespeople. Maddies is a full line distributor of quality products to the pet specialty retailer throughout western Canada with over 27 years of service and growth. The successful applicant will be joining a cohesive high-performance sales group within a collaborative company structure that enhances the achievement of individual and company goals.

Position Responsibilities:

• Manage visits to pet specialty retail locations within the territory on a regular schedule that optimizes effective interactions between the retailer and Maddies.
• Build and maintain strong professional relationships with the owners, managers and staff of retail store locations while projecting Maddies customer centric business philosophy.
• Analyze the retailer’s current product offerings, position in the local market, pricing, staffing and operating systems. From this information the Manager will present solutions that will enhance the business of the retailer while growing sales to that customer.
• Present products that will succeed within the retailer’s current situation. These products could be a new brand to the location or additional items of existing brands.
• Present promotions, trade show opportunities, special discounts that may be available to the retailer
• Provide the retailer with staff training for products provided by Maddies. Also provide market trends and news to the retailer that may enhance their business.
• Interface between the retailer and the manufacturer to facilitate communication and actions that enhance the brand performance in that store. Secure the direct involvement of the manufacturer with the retailer on an as needed basis.
• Coordinate and execute ride-a-longs with manufacturer representatives throughout the territory.
• Provide competitive field intelligence to both the manufacturer and Maddies management when appropriate.
• Interface between the retailer and Maddies’ internal accounting, purchasing and logistics departments. Facilitate the solution of any issues that impede successful business interaction between the retailer and Maddies.
• Survey the territory for any new pet specialty retailers and once identified provide strong support for the launch of the new location.
• Report to and take direction from the Maddies Sales Manager. Work collaboratively with the sales manager to develop a territory sales plan including all sales and scheduling activities.
• Complete timely sales reports, shortage and damage reporting, expense account reports, participate in weekly online sales meetings and other meetings as directed by the Sales Manager.
• Participate exhibitor trade shows (Edmonton Buying Show, Western Canadian Pijac Shows) and be available as show attendee (SuperZoo Las Vegas, Global Orlando).
• Participate in weekend retailer events (currently 5 per year, time given off in lieu)

Position Requirements:

• Outside sales experience preferably in the pet specialty industry.
• Strong ability to manage one’s time and organize effectively.
• Proven talent to build strong customer relationships, resolve issues and overcome objections with diplomacy.
• Familiar with basic computer operation, Word, Excel.
• Provide home office location.
• Provide reliable automobile and valid driver’s license. There are currently no overnight sales calls in this territory required.
• Valid Passport
• Able to lift and handle 40 lbs.
• Team player contributing value to the sales team and Maddies staff.

Position Renumeration:

• Competitive Salary with quarterly Bonus potential. Benefits include health, dental, prescription, life, RSP contribution.
• Renumeration of automobile expenses, travel expenses.
• Paid vacation leave.
